It's Saturday....I should be out Junking
Ah, Saturday morning. My favorite time to check the classifieds and map my route for a morning of junking. Oh but wait, I live in NE Ohio. It's January. We don't have any garage, rummage, or yard sales this time of year. We're too busy being arse deep in snow. So until the March thaw, I'll have to be content with window shopping other vintage shops online. Sometimes a good oggling is enough for me!
At the top of my wishlist to find this spring........
At the top of my wishlist to find this spring........
Skeleton keys.
Awesome. Endless possibilities.
I could kick myself for all the boxes of keys
I passed up over the years before I started selling.
Sewing machine cabinet drawers. Here's another example
of many prior missed opportunities. I've passed on so many
broken down, but with perfectly good drawers, sewing
machines. Before I discovered Esty, I thought I was
the only person kooky enough to find beauty and function
in an old drawer. Well lo and behold it turns there are lots
of kooky folks out there. Thank heavens!
TV Lamps. Back when tv's were first common,
people thought it was necessary to place a small lamp
atop the televsion to protect the eyes from the light of the tv.
So small decorative lamps were made for that sole purpose.
But unlike keys and drawers, these suckers are hard to find.
I've been junking for a long time and I've only ever found one.
But it was a black panther, which was apparently really popular
because there are a slew of them on Etsy. But it just reminded me
too much of that part in Anchor Man when they "musk up" with that
Sex Panther cologne. No thanks.
This one, however, would make me squeal with joy!
Ironstone. I never get tired of this classic workhorse china.
And the more age it shows the better.
Needlepoint pillows. So lovely and cheerful. I love thinking
about all the time and effort someone put into creating these little works of art.
But for now I'll have to be happy to daydream of the coming of Spring....to
hear the birds chirping, the flowers waking from their wintery sleep, the lengthening
of the day, and mostly, my favorite sign of spring,
