Little Deer
I found these sweet little fawns at a craft show I did. The vendor next to me was selling vintage knick knacks
and as soon as I saw these I knew I had to have them.
I love deer. Seems like they were quite trendy a few years ago along with owl, hedgehogs, and little birds. Now it's all about the fox!
But I am a faithful deer lover. I will never tire of my woodland friends!

I've purchased this print and a few others from her. Terrific!
So are deer cliche? Just because something becomes really popular should we stop liking it? Should cupcakes be less cute because they were such a trend? I don't think so. Not if you liked them sincerely. But I can't help but be a little saddened when something becomes so popular and mainstream that it's everywhere. Then it gets a little cheapened. Spread a little thin. It was great when a handful of great bakers were elevating cupcakes to pastry art but now it seems that every person with a Kitchen Aid stand mixer is jumping on the sugar train. Owls were once a cute and quirky retro throwback but now they're just white noise. You know a trend is no longer "indie" when you see bedding of it at Wal-Mart.
Oh well. I don't want to be a high minded snob. I still like owls, cupcakes, deer, and Amy Butler fabric. And Nirvana was still, well Nirvana, even after they went mainstream. Things become trendy because people like them and that's a good thing. Maybe the next trendy critter will be bats and I can say with certainty that I will sit that trend out.
